Newark, NJ-

The Philadelphia Flyers fell in game 2 5-3 to the New Jersey Devils.

The scoring began early when Zach Parise scored shorthanded less than 3 minutes into the game with a slick backand shot to give the Devils a 1-0 lead (not the type of goal any team wants to give up).

The Flyers answered back about halfway through the first period when Arron Asham scored off of a Claude Giroux shot to tie it at 1. Giroux was not done yet, after assisting on Arron Asham’s goal, Giroux was on the other end of things, deflecting a Matt Carle shot past Marty Brodeur to give the Flters a 2-1 lead.

The Devils tied the game when Colin White fired a wrist shot from the point that dound its way through the five-hole of Brian Boucher for a rather soft goal (and White’s first of the playoffs.)

Later in the second period, Patrick Elias sent a shot on net that deflected off of Andy Greene to, once again, give the Devils a one goal lead.

The lead would last until thedying minutes of the second period when Chris Pronger stuffed a rebound past Marty Brodeur to tie the game.

Later on a flurry of shots came Brian Boucher’s way, and Dainius Zubrus stuffed the puck past Boucher. (Patrick Elias appeared to score the goal, but replays showed that Zubrus in fact scored the goal.) Bottom line: 4-3 Devils with just over 4 minutes left in the game.

Ilya Kovalchuck added an empty netter (He still has 0 goals when there is a goalie in net) to make it 5-3, which would be the final score.
